Job overview

Cover Supervisor Required ASAP

37 Hours per week – Term Time + 5 Days Grade E, point 19-22 (£16,544 - £17,767)

We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to supervise planned lessons for teaching colleagues, in their absence and provide in-class learning support within an identified curriculum area.  The successful candidate will focus relentlessly upon giving students opportunities for success both within and beyond the classroom as well as providing stimulating and engaging learning experiences.

Working at King James I Academy will provide the opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff whose mission is to become an outstanding Academy that develops successful, well rounded, socially mobile and confident young people who can contribute effectively to the global community.

The school became a standalone Converter Academy in June 2011 and has recently benefitted from being part of the Government’s PSBP initiative. The first phase of the new, state of the art buildings opened in January 2014 and these facilities have supported the development of a range of innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

In summer 2016, students achieved very positive outcomes in all year groups.  Results in KS4 placed us fifth in Durham, based upon the newly introduced Progress 8 measure, and the progress of learners in our Sixth Form was similarly impressive.  Teachers have worked very hard to achieve improvement and we are justifiably proud of our school and our students.

Closing Date: Friday 30 June (noon)

Shortlisting: Monday 3 July

Interviews: Friday 7 July

Please ring or email the Academy for an application pack. If you would like to arrange an informal visit please contact Karen Sams, PA to the Headteacher kingjames@durhamlearning.net or on 01388 603388. Please note that completed applications must be returned to the above email address, or by post to King James I Academy, South Church Road, Bishop Auckland, County Durham DL14 7JZ by 12 noon on the closing date.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding children.  All candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to the welfare and safety of children and young people.  Any offer of employment will be conditional upon receipt of two supportive references and the successful completion of a DBS and Health Check.

King James I Academy is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community.
