Cover Supervisor

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a professional, dynamic and flexible Cover Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate should be passionate about supporting young people in their learning, will enjoy engaging with our students and also demonstrate excellent behaviour for management skills and an ‘inclusive ethos’.

This is a Grade 5 role working 35 hrs per week, term time only plus 5 training days, 39 working weeks. The starting pro rata salary is £21,387. The full time equivalent is £24,948.

Main responsibilities 

The job involves covering whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. Work will be set but you will need to respond to questions, maintain good order and keep students on task, to ensure the highest possible standards of achievement and personal development.  Cover Supervisors undertake a range of tasks to assist the smooth running of the school, such as helping with the management/preparation of resources and working with smaller groups of students outside of lessons.

Key skills and experience 

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a secondary education setting as a full teaching qualification is not a prerequisite. However, a good standard of literacy and numeracy is required with sound subject knowledge across all areas. This might be demonstrated through educational qualifications or previous professional experience.
