Job overview

The academy seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.

Located in the town of Kirkby in Ashfield, the college is about to embark on an exciting journey which will include a full school rebuild in the next 2 years. The commitment to make a difference for the children of Outwood Academy Kirkby is what drives us. If this drives you too this could be the role you seek where your efforts will make a significant difference. We believe that children never achieve their full potential if their time at school is wasted, and consequently we expect our staff to bring out the best in each and every student. Our diverse curriculum has something for everyone, with extra guidance for those requiring additional support, and we do whatever it takes to help young people develop a sense of responsibility – towards themselves, each other, their community and the wider world. If you share our worldview and want to make a real difference to the lives of young people in Kirkby in Ashfield, you can join us in transforming futures.

Required to start as soon as possible, we have an exciting opportunity and are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor. The position is 35 hours per week, starting at 7.45am and finishing at 3.15pm. You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement work programmes with individuals/groups in or out of the classroom including the supervision of whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. You will manage the behaviour of students in line with the academy’s Behaviour Policy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of cover requirements across the academy, including daily cover rota, contacting teaching supply agencies to arrange supply staff, and photocopying and distributing cover work.

You must be well organised and have the ability to prioritise your workload to ensure that deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and work within a team environment is key.
