Job overview

We are seeking a motivated person to join our Cover Team on a permanent contract. Cover Supervisors are responsible for the management of classes when the regular teacher is absent, ensuring that learning is taking place and all students are making progress. When cover is not required, Cover Supervisors support in a range of other activities around the school to support teaching and learning including assisting the wellbeing team, supporting teachers in lessons, supporting students, invigilation, reader or scribe during mock or formal exams and a range of administrative tasks. This role would also be to support the SEND team and act as a Teaching Assistant.

Working as a Cover Supervisor can be an excellent route into teaching and getting you used to the classroom environment. You should possess a calm, confident and assertive manner and the ability to relate well to young people to support learning.

The ethos of the school is to challenge students to be creative, work independently and push themselves to achieve their absolute best. Our curriculum is aspirational for all.

In the wider context, we are a fast paced and dynamic mixed comprehensive school meeting the needs of children of all abilities from 11-16 years. The school is in an exciting phase, having joined the high performing Bourne Education Trust in 2017. We are eager to appoint exceptional individuals who wish to make a significant contribution to the learning and lives of our students. We have a proven track record of working with and developing newly qualified teachers and those ready for promotion. We were obviously delighted with the swift progress being made by the school but are greedy for more. Our ideal candidates are energetic, ambitious (for themselves and their students), resilient and enthusiastic. This post is ideal for those wanting to be part of a rapid transformation and eager to work in a school and trust that puts quality education for its students at its core.
