Job Title: Cricket Coach

Job Purpose: To deliver high quality Cricket coaching to a range of different ages, ensuring the continued development of Cricket at the School.

 

Reporting Line: Head of Cricket

Start Date: January 2023

Tenure: Casual, part-time, 1 term (January to April), 3 hours per week

Salary: Competitive

 

Surbiton High School is a lively, energetic, independent girl’s day school in Surbiton, West London. The School competes annually at a Borough, County, Regional and National level. Numerous pupils represent at county and regional level through the support offered by our programme. The Cricket Programme aims to deliver an environment where pupils can foster a lifelong love of Cricket

You will have participated or coached at a high level and have experience in coaching young people. This role will require confidence and creativity in managing a large squad of varying abilities in an indoor net environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaching Cricket across a range of groups, from beginners to senior and scholars
  • Developing individuals by catering to their needs
  • Feeding back to students on development
  • Acting as a coach and offering general support prior, during and after events
  • Checking the safety of all equipment and facilities before use
  • Awareness and adherence to risk assessments and health and safety guidelines
  • Carrying out any such duties as may be reasonably requested

 

 

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be likely to fit the following profile:

 

Qualifications

  • Level 1 or Level 2 Cricket coaching qualification

Skills

  • The ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic School and successful Cricket programme
  • Experience of operating professionally and safely within a sporting environment
  • Good communication, organizational, administrative and ICT skills
  • Excellent planning and time management skills

 

Experience and Knowledge

  • Must have played Cricket at a high level
  • Experience of cricket coaching in an educational setting would be preferable
  • A proven track record of demonstrable training and coaching success
  • Experience of collaborating with colleagues
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cricket technique, strength and conditioning

  • A passion for cricket and coaching
  • Confidence and creativity in managing squads of varying abilities
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
  • Personal warmth to gain the confidence of pupils, staff and parents

  • Ability to communicate concisely and sensitively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences

Surbiton High School has approximately 1600 pupils aged between 4 and 18. Our Preparatory Schools are divided into the Girls’ Preparatory School and Boys’ Preparatory School, and the Senior School is girls only from age 11 upwards.
