Job overview

Due to strong year-on-year growth, an opportunity has arisen to join Exeter College in the Faculty of Maths and Science as a Curriculum Area Manager. You will lead on areas of the curriculum and manage your team within the faculty, including A level chemistry and BTEC Applied Science. As a subject specialist you will be able to teach Chemistry across a range of courses. You will lead your area to go beyond Outstanding, in the college’s vision to be exceptional.

You will join an expanding and experienced Faculty Management Group (FMG) that is extremely supportive and committed to working collaboratively and sharing best practice in an outstanding Faculty. The FMG currently comprises the Head and Deputy Head of Faculty, 3 other Curriculum Area Managers and a Tutorial Lead, supported by the Faculty Operations Officer. This is a great opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a proven track record of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, the talent to lead a Curriculum Area and a desire to develop your career.


The Faculty was awarded Grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and has continued to grow its range of provision with improved Achievement and Value-Added ever since. We are primarily based in purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre. The College also has ambitious plans for development including a new centre to support the growth of our A Level provision. The Faculty delivers a range of courses mainly to 16-18 year old learners, including A Levels, BTEC Applied Science and the IB, with some Access to HE provision to 19+ learners. We are privileged to work with a fantastic cohort of learners who come to us as the 8th largest sixth-form provider in England to study their chosen subjects.
