We are looking for experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Faculty of Science.  The successful candidate will deliver an effective level of support to the Head of Faculty and meet the learning and welfare needs of individual students, as nominated, and participating in other departmental activities as directed.

The successful candidate will be required to support the learning needs of individual students, in particular, helping them prepare for examinations in GCSE and supporting students with Special Educational Needs in the classroom; and be required to supervise whole classes to maintain good order, keep students on task, respond to questions and generally assist students to undertake set activities.

In addition, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of departmental and student records and be able to use computerised management information systems to enter, record and retrieve data. Duties will also include organising reprographics, ordering stationery and classroom equipment, writing letters to parents and organising events such as trips.

What experience do I need?

  • You will have experience of working with children or young people with a variety of learning and medical needs.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in using computers.
  • You must have good communication, literacy and numeracy skills and be flexible in your approach.  
  • You must have the ability to relate to young people. 
  • A suitable qualification and/or experience is desirable.


The appointee will be required to complete a six-month period of probation.
