An additional one-off payment of £2000 may be available for the right candidate to support relocation costs.  

The UTC Sheffield Academy Trust is looking for an engaging and inspirational individual to lead the Faculty of Mathematics at our UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park site, which opened in September 2016. You will be resilient, driven and focused helping to establish a pioneering institution at the heart of the Sheffield City Region and its communities.

You will work alongside Principal Dr Sarah Clark and UTC staff to develop a centre of excellence focusing on Health Science / Sports Science and Computing. Central to this role is ensuring outstanding delivery of GCSE, AS & A2 Mathematics / Further Mathematics, and Level 3 Core Mathematics as outlined in the offer on the UTC website.  

The new post-holder will benefit from developing links with the technical and other academic qualifications to explore mathematical aspects of Computing, Sport Science, Health and Science.   

In addition, you should be a highly skilled practitioner who understands the challenges of educating 13 -19 year olds in an employer led technology rich environment.  

Effective partnership working is absolutely critical to the UTC’s success.  In return, we are committed to support the new post-holder to develop their leadership skills through a focused programme of support and development, which will help to ensure the outstanding outcomes we strive for our young people and preparation for further career progression.  The suitable candidate will; lead and manage the faculty, thereby ensuring that all students and team members adhere to the UTC values and policies and that all students taught within the faculty are given opportunities to maximise their potential; provide high quality teaching and assessments for all students studying within the faculty; lead and contribute to collaborative teaching and learning planning across faculties to fully implement the holistic learning vision of the UTC.  

Successful candidates will be expected to:  

• Lead and empower staff within the department 

• Implement effectively curriculum and assessment strategies  

• Monitor and report on the performance of all students within the department  

• Implement appropriate intervention strategies which demonstrate impact  

Candidates will require: 

• The ability to work under pressure and as part of a team 

• Good communication and interpersonal skills 

• Experience that demonstrates an aptitude for effective leadership and management

Welcome to Sheffield UTC's TES page!

UTC Sheffield City Centre is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational University Technical College situated in Sheffield. This sponsor-led academy is part of The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust, alongside its sister institution, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. UTC Derby Pride Park joined the Trust in December 2019.  All 3 UTCs have been judged Good by Ofssted.

University Technical Colleges are secondary schools for students aged 13–19. They combine technical, practical and academic learning to deliver an education that goes beyond traditional GCSEs and A-levels.

A smaller than average secondary school, UTC Sheffield will provide 600 places for students when fully subscribed. It opened as a new provision in 2013.
