Job overview

The Vacancy

The role of the Curriculum Enhancement & Exams Support Officer (CEESO) is to assist the Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum, Data & Standards) in ensuring that students are fully equipped to transition to each stage of their school career. The role will have a particular focus on implementing the careers information, advice and guidance element of the QEHS enhancement curriculum and to ensure the efficient and effective administration of all internal and external examinations within the school, including liaising with staff, students, parents/guardians and invigilators as required.

It is important to note, however, that all of the digital aspects of submitting exam entries to exam boards and disseminating results are outsourced by the school and accordingly do not form part of this role. Rather, the CEESO role deals with the administration and execution of internal and external exams in school only.

We seek to appoint an individual with high educational standards and excellent interpersonal skills, who has experience of working in an educational setting and can demonstrate excellent computer skills. Previous experience as a Careers Advisor would be advantageous. It would be beneficial to have recent experience of administering or managing exams in an educational context, and previous experience as an administrator is essential. The post holder must be able to work with initiative and foresight to a very high standard and will have experience of working to meet strict deadlines.

The salary scale for this post is anticipated to be Grade 5. This equates to £23,194.00 per annum (pro rata). Actual starting salary equates to between £18,287.00 and £20,404 per annum. Our LGPS employer contribution is currently 24.1%.

The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week / 41 weeks per year.

Due to the nature of the administrative role, there will be a need for flexibility around working hours on occasions and the expectation is that the extra working weeks must be worked during exam periods.

First established in 1589, Queen Elizabeth’s High School is a grammar school located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The school has existed in its current guise as a co-educational grammar school since 1983, when the two single-sex schools merged into a single institution. A state grammar school, Queen Elizabeth’s is academically selective in its admissions but charges no fees for tuition. With around 1200 pupils on roll in a co-educational setting aged 11-18, the school is noticeably larger than most secondary schools, around 150 of these residing in the school sixth form. Queen Elizabeth’s has seen extensive modernisation and development over the years.
