Salary: £37,815 per annum (plus £3,000 Market Premium Payment)

Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Curriculum Leader – Engineering (HE) to join our Engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis working 35 hours per week with 120 hours remission per annum. This post also attracts a Market Premium Payment of £3,000 per annum, which will be offered for an initial period of three years, at which point a review will take place.


This role will be predominantly based at Nelson and Colne College but travel across other College sites may be required.


Main duties include:

  • Assist and support the HoD in providing leadership, guidance and management to staff within the Engineering team, leading on delivering effective learning for students primarily on the HE provision 
  • Work with the HoD to ensure areas of teaching and learning are of outstanding quality 
  • Support the HoD with Key Goals and reviews, staff absence and holidays 
  • Liaise with the HE Registry team and report to the Dean of Higher Education on all matters relating to the HE programmes
  • Take responsibility for achieving the section’s targets in retention, attendance, achievements, high grades, added value and student satisfaction
  • Ensure professional development activities are appropriately planned for the team
  • Conduct staff reviews, if required


The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • A higher degree or advanced qualification in a relevant subject area 
  • Recognised teaching qualification 
  • Compliance with CPD requirements
  • Successful teaching experience within HE 
  • Recent Leadership and Management experience within HE

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
