About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Curriculum Leader for Art at Vale of York Academy . The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the work of the curriculum area. The core focus of the role is raising pupil achievement. Central to this is leading and guiding staff working within the Art department and fostering an environment within which teaching and learning is the key priority with a desire for it to be of the highest quality and each member of the team is able to develop to the full the pupils in our care.

The successful candidate will make a vital contribution towards our ambition to become an outstanding provider.

Vale of York Academy has undergone a period of sustained improvement and success. Having been judged as Good by Ofsted in November 2019, the academy has seen outcomes continue to rise and it is now a highly favoured school in the local area. Although popular, Vale of York will retain a relatively small size, something which adds to the strong sense of community where all children and adults are known and valued.

Vale of York Academy is one of many Hope Sentamu Learning Trust secondary schools. Vale of York has undergone a period of transformation and rapid improvement since joining the Trust in 2017. Vale of York is an 11-16 comprehensive school which serves a mixed catchment extending from the City Centre of York to the satellite village of Skelton on the northern edge of the City.
