Birmingham Ormiston Academy is a 14-19 academy specialising in Creative, Digital and Performing Arts. The academy opened in September 2011 and has over 1030 students (333 at KS4 and 700 at Post 16). BOA is 100% selective, based on aptitude, and is unique in its admissions criteria.

We are seeking to appoint a Curriculum Leader for History with responsibility for leading Citizenship to take management responsibility for the History and Citizenship courses within the academy.

All BOA students are selected through aptitude in their chosen arts specialism and will follow either a Creative, Digital or Performing Arts pathway. Key Stage 4 students will take either GCSE History or GCSE Geography as one of their GCSE options.

We are looking for someone who has a strong record as an outstanding teacher of History. Previous experience of teaching Citizenship would be advantageous.

You will have high expectations, be able to manage colleagues and work effectively as part of a team. You will be prepared to get fully involved in the life of our busy and vibrant academy.

BOA Creative, Digital and Performing Arts Academy is a state-funded, high-performing 14 to 19 academy specialising in creative, digital and performing arts. The brand-new landmark building, located at the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands, opened September 2011. Whilst students have talent in their chosen pathway subjects, there is a full range of academic ability. Alongside their vocational courses, students in Year 10 and 11 study an additional eight GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science. In Year 12 and 13 students can opt to study one or two additional A Levels.
