Job overview

The Governing Body of Broadgreen International School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational teacher to take responsibility for the leadership of Health & Social Care and Child Development with effect from April 2017 or September 2017.

Health & Social Care and Child Development are important parts of our vocational offer to our students. Both subjects provide very successful option choices at KS4 and Health and Social Care is outstanding at KS5.

The ability to teach both subjects is obviously highly desirable. However, we would also welcome applications from specialists in related areas who may wish to retrain.

We currently offer GCSE Health & Social Care and Child Development and Level 3 OCR Health & Social Care.    This is an opportunity for a talented individual to influence positive learning outcomes for our students and to further develop the educational opportunities for which the school holds a high reputation.

We are seeking to appoint:

· An effective leader with a clear vision to develop this area within our school.

· An enthusiastic and experienced teacher, with effective strategies to take the subjects and the students to the highest levels of achievement.

· An experienced, dynamic and creative classroom practitioner who can engage learners. · An inspirational teacher with a commitment to raising achievement for all and a proven track record of raising standards.

· An enthusiast who will promote this area and who can make it relevant and engaging for our young people.

· A willingness to lead and contribute to a range of extra-curricular provision.

Broadgreen International School is a successful and over-subscribed secondary school of 1150 students and an expanding sixth form.

The post will be paid at MPS/UPS plus TLR 2a [£2,639]

Application procedures: Please apply by sending a completed application form, and use Section 8 of the application form to outline your vision and how your experiences to date have prepared you for the role (no more than 2 pages, font 12).  Please also complete an Equal Opportunities form.

Applications should be submitted to recruitment@bgis.co.uk by 12 noon, Monday 6 February 2017.

Interviews will be held week commencing 13 February 2017.

This post is classified as having substantial access to children, and appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions (DBS). Applicants are required, before appointment, to disclose any conviction, caution or binding over including ‘spent convictions’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. Non-disclosure may lead to termination of employment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily debar individuals from employment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred.

All teachers aged between 16 and 75 will be enrolled into the Teachers' Pension Scheme and contributions of salary are deducted from monthly salary payments at the current rate of deductions.   Once enrolled, if you do not wish to be in this scheme you will need to complete the necessary "opt out" forms which can be obtained from the teachers’ pensions scheme website on www.teacherspensions.co.uk. Further information about the teachers’ pension scheme can also be found on the website.

Broadgreen International School is a Foundation School with Trust status.
