Nelson and Colne College, an Outstanding education provider with excellent facilities and unparalleled staff benefits, are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Curriculum Leader – Health & Social Care to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from August 2018.  

The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader, focused on student progress and leading the team delivering Health & Social Care. The ideal candidate will take responsibility for achieving the section’s targets in retention, attendance, achievements, high grades, added value and student satisfaction. 

There may be an opportunity for additional responsibility for an outstanding candidate, which would be reflected in the salary and remission. This will be discussed during the assessment process. 

Main duties include:

· Ensure Health & Social Care teaching, learning and development are of outstanding quality

· Take responsibility for the Health and Social Care resources

· Ensure professional development activities are appropriately planned for the team and the individuals within the team

· Conduct staff reviews, if required

· Be up to date, plan and prepare high quality teaching, as required by your Line Manager to the appropriate number of hours (210 hrs per annum remission)

· Develop and share resources for the course/subject including maintaining effective links across College for resources

The ideal candidate will have:

· Relevant degree level or appropriate professional qualification

· Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve this within three years of appointment

· Compliance with CPD requirements

· A higher degree or advanced qualification (desirable) 

· Successful teaching experience in a relevant subject area (Health & Social Care) 

· Ability to assess and implement staff development requirements

· Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
