Curriculum Leader in Computing and Technology

CHS SouthManchester

The Trustees of the Prospere Learning Trust would like to invite applications to the post of   Curriculum Leader in Computing and Technology for CHS South.

The Computing and Technology department teaches students Computing, Food Technology and Design Technology.

In computing students are prepared for a digital world, digital careers and taught how to use digital systems safely and responsibly. Students are taught the key skills to develop their digital literacy and awareness of computational thinking.

Design and Technology aims to develop students understanding of how, and why we use materials and technologies to manufacture the products we consumer in our daily lives. Students are taught about materials and apply their knowledge through practical activities.

Food Preparation and Nutrition aims to support students understanding of the sources of food, nutritional values and how to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Students will be taught about key food areas and apply their knowledge through practical lessons.

The department currently consists of an Assistance Curriculum Leader, Food Technology Teacher and Design Technology Teacher (part time). The department is also supported by two other members of staff in the delivery of the curriculum.

Year 7 and 8

The department teaches students in Year 7 and 8 as part of a rotation. Every student will study a separate discipline in each term receiving a 2 hour lesson each week. The students develop a range of knowledge and skills to help develop their understanding of the different subjects.

Year 9

In Year 9 we currently have 2 groups in both Computing and Design Technology and 1 group in Food and Nutrition. These students have chosen these subjects as part of their Year 9 pathway. Also, in Year 9 the department teaches students as part of the curriculum foundation groups. In these students continue to develop knowledge of computing and technology and build on the skills they learn in year 7 and 8.

This is an excellent opportunity for an exceptional Curriculum Leader in Computing and Technology to join and help shape a developing team in a growing school.  Applicants should be passionate about teaching in an inner-city comprehensive school and providing the very best education for the pupils in our community and family.
