Newcastle College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Curriculum Leader in Sport, Law, Policing and Protective Services.


 The main responsibilities of this role include supporting the Head of Curriculum in the management of the section in order to ensure the section performance is aligned to College key performance indicators. The Curriculum Leader will work with both the Head and other department Curriculum Leader to ensure the delivery of a high standard of learner experience and will help with the growth of the department.  This role will focus mainly on the Higher Education provision within the curriculum area.  The post will also require the delivery and assessment of high quality learning programmes in Sport, Law, Policing and Protective Services, across a range of levels of further education, higher education and / or apprenticeship provision, as well as undertaking a range of possible programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties.


 This post requires a strong background in either Sport, Policing, Law or Protective Services and the candidate must have proven track record of professional / vocational expertise in the sport or public service sector.


 The candidate must be qualified to honours degree level (Level 6) or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.  It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE and / or Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice.


 An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
