CURRICULUM LEADER – MFL (Spanish)

Salary:  MPS / UPS + TLR 2B (£4000) 

Owing to the relocation of the current post holder to a school closer to home, we are looking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Curriculum Leader of MFL (Spanish) to start in January 2020 (or sooner if available / by negotiation). This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to make a positive contribution to our successful MFL (Spanish) department by leading, developing and managing the effective delivery of the curriculum to improve student progress and attainment.

You will need to have experience of teaching Spanish across Key Stages 3 & 4 and preferably successful leadership responsibility within an MFL department.  We will also consider applications from excellent teachers with proven leadership potential. The ability to teach to ‘A’ level Spanish would be a distinct advantage.

Spanish is a key area of improvement for our school and this is an exciting time to join the academy as we work to secure outstanding outcomes in Spanish. We are looking for a dynamic leader who will go that extra mile, lighting the fire of imagination in children that ‘anything is possible’ and who is with them for every step of their journey, to bring our mission statement to life; to nurture and support each student to personal excellence in all parts of their life. You will have licence to develop the department In line with your vision and you will be supported with the training and resources you need to succeed.


The ideal candidate will:

• Be passionate about Spanish and the teaching of MFL.

• Be aligned to the vision and values of OBA.

• Have a track record of delivering and securing excellent student progress and outcomes. 

• Be an excellent teacher of Spanish who wants to create a positive buzz in the classroom and amongst a team of teachers.

• Have high expectations of students and want them to achieve or exceed their true potential to enhance their life chances.

• Have experience of department quality assurance.

• Use data analysis and intervention strategies to enhance student outcomes.

• Evaluate interventions to demonstrate their impact and value for money.

• Have a deep understanding of the new Education Inspection Framework (September 2019).
