The Music and Performing Arts department are looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Curriculum Leader.
The core responsibilities of this role include managing all the day-to-day operations of the Music Academy, deputising for the Head of Music and Performing Arts, delivery and assessment of high-quality learning programmes in music and performing arts disciplines across a range of level 2 - 6 programmes.
This role has a 0.5 FTE commitment to delivery across the programmes based on experience. This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Department of Music and Performing Arts at Newcastle College. This new department brings together multiple performance disciplines. This role will have line management responsibilities for the delivery team, as well as ensuring section performance is aligned to college KPI's, and will support the Head of Music and Performing Arts in ensuring effective leadership of the provision, including curriculum business and financial planning, development, quality and delivery.
The successful candidate requires a strong background in leading further education and higher education, ideally has a background in the creative sector and must have a range of knowledge and experience of different aspects of the sectors covered at the Academy. The candidate must be qualified to honours degree level (Level 6) or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE and HE and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice. An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand. The Performance Academy is based on Rye Hill Campus in Newcastle Upon Tyne where colleagues work effectively together to ensure all stakeholders get the best value from every aspect of the curriculum.
