Poltair School is a transformational, fast paced school with exceptionally high expectations for all, serving students aged 11-16 in the St. Austell area of Cornwall. Our students have exemplary behaviour and attitudes, dress smartly and appreciate the importance of education.

The school is on a rapid improvement journey, and we are ambitious for what the students in our community can achieve. At the heart of this is the provision of a knowledge-rich curriculum and exceptional teaching and learning. Every leader must play their part in modelling expert teaching and expecting the best of others. We truly want our students to develop the confidence and character to make a significant contribution to society and lead a life of choice and opportunities.

The school is growing at pace and so we are looking for an exceptional leader to join our History Team. The successful candidate will be energetic, resilient, and willing to take risks, learn from them, and grow in the process.

History is a popular subject and the school has a strong ambition for the vast majority of students to be studying the EBACC. Students want to learn and arrive at lessons ready to engage with learning.

Leadership at Poltair School is hugely rewarding, and we can guarantee that this opportunity will bring the best out in you and subsequently, give the students at Poltair School exceptional role models to learn from.

The school is part of Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), a family of primary and secondary schools all based in Cornwall. Due to the success of the Trust, there are unrivalled opportunities for all staff to grow and develop and to collaborate with talented school leaders.

Qualities we are looking for:

  • Commitment and dedication in placing the needs of the students at the heart of every decision
  • Ability to lead others and to contribute to building an excellent team
  • Outward facing with the ability to seek solutions to problems
