Minerva Learning Trust is an expanding Sheffield based multi-academy Trust with a vision of providing outstanding education for all the students within our schools. The Trust is passionate that all students should see their time at school as happy and fulfilling with their potential developed to the utmost. Ecclesfield School joined the Trust in December 2017 and, as a sponsored academy, is developing this partnership and making rapid improvements for our students and community.

This is an exciting opening to join the team at Ecclesfield as a part time Curriculum Leader of History. This appointment is a key opportunity to join an increasingly developing, supportive and committed team. Applications are welcome from colleagues with the drive and commitment to consistently pursue the highest standards of student outcomes and deliver lessons with an innovative, inspiring and challenging approach. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues in our other academies and the Trust to support the delivery of teaching and learning within the history departments.

Please note, this is a 0.6 FTE maternity cover (0.5 FTE Curriculum Leader of History and 0.1 FTE Teacher of History).

Located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Ecclesfield School is a larger-than-average secondary school, educating around 1,700 pupils aged 11-16 in a co-educational setting. Originally founded as a grammar school in 1931, the school converted to academy status in 2014.

Ecclesfield School has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, with a series of new buildings completed in the early 2000s. The school currently hosts a specialist unit for hearing-impaired children in the local area.

“The proportion of students achieving five GCSE passes at grades A* to C, including English and mathematics, has risen strongly over recent years, as a result of senior leaders’ relentless focus on raising attainment. In 2013, an above average proportion of students achieved the English Baccalaureate. Students’ achievement on a range of BTEC courses is also good.”
