Curriculum Leader of ICT

Pittville School are seeking to recruit an ambitious and inspirational Curriculum Leader of ICT with the vision, expertise and desire to lead a forward-thinking team from September 2021. You will be required to build on existing strengths within the department and drive improvements to ensure that excellent teaching is underpinned by an engaging, coherently sequenced 5-year curriculum that enables all learners to make sustained progress.

We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who can enthuse, engage, empower and inspire both pupils and staff. Applications are welcome from experienced practitioners, with opportunities for the right candidate to take on additional responsibility commensurate with prior experience and / or future career aspirations. In September 2021 – the successful candidate will be required to deliver Creative Imedia to Year 11 students who have already chosen their KS4 Options. From September 2022 we intend for all students to be able to choose an academically rigorous ICT / Computing based course as a Key Stage 4 option. The successful candidate would lead on the development of this curriculum provision and the carefully sequenced, engaging KS3 curriculum that prepares students for such a course.  

The successful candidate will be part of the Design Technology department, supported by an experienced line manager. The faculty is housed in excellent accommodation, including five ICT suites. The school has recently invested in a new ICT network across the school with the development of whole school ICT provision a key strategic aim within the school’s development plan. 

The successful candidate will be joining a successful curriculum area which has high expectations of and for the students they teach. An ability to work well in a team and demonstrate an innovative and inspirational approach to teaching and learning is essential. As part of the Balcarras Teaching Partnership in Cheltenham and with string links with local post-16 colleges – there is a strong network of colleagues who are supportive of our curriculum developments.

Pittville School is a good 11-16 school situated in a superb setting in the heart of Cheltenham. The school is heavily oversubscribed at Key Stage 3 and the school has seen is first preferences for places rise year on year. We are particularly proud that visitors to our school always comment on the excellent behaviour and attitude to learning exhibited by our pupils. We are part of a Teaching School Partnership which offers a range of development programs and run our own SEND Network which also provides high quality, in house, training. This runs alongside the usual provision of courses, school visits, and local partnerships.
