Job overview

Ambitions Academies Trust (AAT) comprises schools from all sectors: mainstream (primary and secondary) and special.  AAT secures outstanding achievement and improved life chances of all our pupils.  All our Academies have high expectations as the focus of their work.  We are strongly committed to supporting colleagues in developing their careers further and offer excellent CPD opportunities.

Are you looking for your next challenge? Do you relish the chance to support colleagues to take rapid and sustained school improvement? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are a rapidly improving academy that has worked tirelessly to create a culture and ethos that enables all students within our community to learn, grow and achieve.

With approximately 420 students on roll and a comprehensive academy improvement strategy in place, we are acutely aware of our strengths and capacity for growth. You are an integral part of our commitment to raise standards.

We are working towards being a community school of 900 students with a ‘Good’ judgement by September 2022, with a clear plan of building works already underway to match our own ‘High Expectations.’

For the right candidate, now is the perfect time to join a small and ambitious team of staff to work with us in a significant leadership role on our next phase of development.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Mathematics

You will be a skilled classroom practitioner who is dedicated to high quality teaching and learning. You will have the skills, experience and capacity to share strategies and techniques for teaching Mathematics with others.
The successful candidate may have either current leadership and management experience or the potential to make a significant contribution to our rapidly improving Academy by leading our Mathematics team.

“Staff are overwhelmingly proud to work at the school.”
Ofsted 2018

You will have a dynamic, exceptional and creative approach to improving teaching and learning in a way that benefits all students. You will be well supported in this role and strong links already exist within the Ambitions Academies Trust to ensure that staff CPD and well-being opportunities balance the demands of working in education.

Our mantra, ‘High Expectations lead to High Achievers’ applies to everyone who is involved in the academy, whatever their role and we place a strong emphasis on staff well-being.

What can we offer?

  • Directed time that is well below 1265.
  • Meetings for subject teachers only twice each half term.
  • Collaborative planning across the Trust with departments in different academies able to share resources and moderation linked by Microsoft Teams.
  • Reporting to parents only three times a year and no requirement for written comments.
  • Clear and fully supported behaviour management system.
  • No formally graded lesson observations – the emphasis is on coaching and sharing practice.
  • A performance management process that is focused on three targets only: Subject knowledge, teaching and learning and either a departmental or whole school responsibility target regardless of your level of responsibility.
  • Very flexible child-care arrangements - we are a very family friendly academy and really do understand how hard it can be juggling family life and work at times.
  • Very visible and approachable senior leadership team who are well established and experienced within the academy having been part of the improvement journey since 2016.
  • Real opportunities for career progression – our culture is very much to ‘promote from within’.

We are a truly comprehensive school located in the heart of our community. There are high levels of respect, support and kindness across our staff team and senior leadership.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with all levels of experience, including NQTs. The school offers an excellent professional development programme.
