We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and ambitious teacher of MFL, to lead the development and delivery of the MFL Curriculum by supporting our teaching professionals who are committed to ensuring all students continue to achieve beyond their potential. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join an academy dedicated to improving outcomes, aspirations, and life chances of young people. We know that for students to aspire and be successful in all aspects of their lives, they need to be given meaningful and sustained opportunities to develop their cultural capital. We do this in many ways, for example, through our curriculum, extracurricular activities, trips and visits and careers activities.    

Role:  

As part of a team of subject leads, the Curriculum Leader of MFL will:  

• Be committed to supporting the achievement of all our young people in the MFL curriculum, both in lessons and through extra-curricular provision, through their learning from 11-16 and beyond.

• Design and develop an outstanding, innovative and creative MFL curriculum.

• Develop, in all students and teachers of Spanish/MFL, versatile skills and attitudes required for lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.

• Ensure that teachers within the MFL team are provided with high quality training opportunities, which enable them to be highly effective practitioners. 

• Hold teachers of Spanish/MFL to account for their performance.

• Develop positive external relationships at a local and strategic level, in partnership with The White Rose Academies Trust and others, to promote the continued development of the Academy, as a central resource for the community.

• Lead the English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision within the academy.

Leeds West is a co-educational, non-denominational 11-16 secondary in the city’s district of Bramley. The school is a member of the White Rose Academies Trust. There are currently approximately 1,300 students on the school roll. The school is located near Summerfield Primary School and Stanningley Park. The school offers an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities from martial arts to chess. The school is also sponsored by Leeds City College.
