Candidates must be Drama specialists

Performing Arts at Cove School is an important component of our curriculum offer in Key Stage 3 & 4.

At a time when schools are reducing the opportunities for students to develop their creativity and ability to express themselves, we have protected and invested in Drama and Music. Our facilities are good with a dedicated Music suite with practice rooms, and two dedicated Drama rooms.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a creative and dynamic individual to lead our curriculum area of Performing Arts.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining and developing the high profile that Performing Arts currently enjoys within school and the local community. This role also involves responsibility for monitoring and improving the quality of teaching and learning, assessment and feedback, leading and developing the curriculum further, as well as running productions and concerts during the school year.

This job requires an up to date knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and assessment across all key stages from Yr7 to Yr 11, reporting and recording processes relating to performing arts, plus a clear understanding of the elements of outstanding teaching and learning.

Cove is a rapidly improving school serving the local community and engaged with wider projects across Hampshire.  Performing arts is a high performing department achieving some of the top grades and regularly attaining 89%+ grades 4-9. Through music concerts, high quality productions and cultural trips performing arts underpins the culture of the school.

The latest Ofsted visit in December 2018 agreed the school is moving in the right direction, whereby leadership and behaviour are both good, that we are focused on the right cultural changes to continue the rapid improvement journey.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a curriculum area dedicated to supporting students to believe in their creative potential in Performing Arts. If you have what it takes we would love to hear from you.

For further information, an application form or information pack please contact Mrs Linda Ware on and visit for more information about the school.
