The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients. We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2. We are looking for an experienced manager (of at least 3 years) with knowledge and experience of provision for young people who want to go on to vocational study programmes. The curriculum areas include: 14-16 Alternative Provision, ESOL, NEETs programmes and programmes for students with learning difficulties.

You will be an inspirational leader and effective day to day manager of a team of curriculum leaders, teachers and support staff. You will have specific experience of operational management of at least one of the curriculum areas. You will be an outstanding, learner –centred teacher, able to develop the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. While not having specific teaching responsibilities you may have to provide cover. You will be an excellent communicator with students, colleagues and other stakeholders. 

A significant part of this role is effective liaison with external agencies including local authorities, schools and parents.

Located in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Barking and Dagenham College is a large further education college providing qualifications and work skills to learners aged 14 and over. The college has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation since its founding, and as a result can boast of a wide range of different teaching and recreational facilities. The college also works closely with external providers and business partners, in order to provide some teaching and work-experience off-site for students who require it.

Barking and Dagenham College offers a huge range of courses for learners of every kind, young and old, full and part-time. Of particular importance are courses aimed at 16-18 school-leavers, with a number of A-level and BTEC courses being run by the college, as well as foundation degrees for students looking to go into higher education. The college itself does actually offer a limited number of higher education degree courses, with students able to take advantage of the college's location and flexible financial offerings.
