Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Curriculum Manager to lead and manage the delivery of English, both Functional Skills and GCSE, primarily as part of 16-18 vocational study programmes at our Merton and Carshalton Colleges. Joining us as Curriculum Manager, you will have the opportunity to apply your own initiative to ensure the continuous improvement, development and growth of this area in line with the Colleges’ strategic plan.

You will have line management responsibility to teaching staff and will be responsible for their leadership, motivation and development to ensure that the aims and objectives of the College are met. You will also have responsibility for the operational management of the area, ensuring high quality provision, effective and efficient use of resources and flexible, student centred delivery.

We’re looking for an individual who holds or is working towards a Degree (or equivalent qualification) in English and who has a full recognised teaching qualification. With a clear vision for the improvement and development of English within an FE environment, you will have substantial relevant teaching experience of GCSE and Functional Skills and a track record of achieving good GCSE results, specifically high grades. Demonstrating personal qualities such as empathy, interpersonal communication skills and team work, you will be able to successfully monitor and support ‘at risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential and plan a high quality GCSE and Functional Skills programme, managing the use and production of all materials and resources to support learning.

Candidates must also have experience of leading and managing GCSE and Functional Skills in post 16 education and have a track record of making sustained improvements. You will need to have a firm grasp of current and impending changes to this curriculum and have a successful record of identifying and responding to staff training and development needs.

This post will be based at Carshalton College and Merton College.

Closing date for the return of a complete online application form is Friday 22nd June 2018.
