Curriculum Manager for Physical Education

Sir Harry Smith Community College is an 11-18 Academy, proud of its traditional values and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning and its standards of discipline and respect. The College serves the market town of Whittlesey, seven miles outside of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.

In the 2016 summer examinations students achieved the following results: 78% A* - C in English and 66% A* - C in Maths. Science results were 72% A*- C. Of these results, 82% of students made expected progress in English and 74% of students made expected progress in Maths. In English, 48% of students made more than expected progress and in Maths it was 33%.

In November 2014, Ofsted graded Sir Harry Smith as a “Good school where students are proud of their school and behave with respect and consideration towards each other”. We pride ourselves on our sense of community and Ofsted recognised that the relationships between staff and students were positive.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and inspiring outstanding classroom practitioner interested in joining our successful Physical Education Department as Curriculum Manager to commence in September 2017. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to provide professional leadership and management for Physical Education across the school, ensuring the department delivers high quality teaching, effectively using the resources available and aiming to raise standards of learning and achievement for all our students. The successful candidate will be able to teach at all Key Stages with a track record of supporting academic success.

There may be a possibility of a further TLR for undertaking the role of BTEC Quality Nominee for the BTEC courses across the College.
