The City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College is a thriving, lively and successful Sixth Form College, committed to social inclusion.  The College is located in an award-winning, state of the art building at the heart of the University Quarter of Stoke on Trent, adjacent to Stoke Railway Station, providing excellent travel links.  In addition, all STEM students are taught in the University Science Centre which provides access to sophisticated university standard facilities.  In September 2017, the College achieved academy status as part of the Potteries Educational Trust.  The Trust is working collaboratively with educational institutions from across Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and beyond, seeking to improve outcomes for all children and young people in the region.  In October 2017, Ofsted Inspectors graded the College ‘Good’ with several excellent features and praised staff and students for creating a supportive learning community.  Inspectors were impressed with the relentless focus on continuing to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, leading to our learners making good or excellent progress.  The College’s mission is ‘A caring community, delivering excellence and inspiring futures.’

Curriculum Manager – Maths and Computing

Salary: Sixth Form Colleges Leadership Spine L1- L3 (£48,780 - £51,454)

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and successful teacher of Mathematics, who will take overall responsibility for the curriculum leadership, quality improvement and development of the Maths and Computing Department; a growing, successful and popular subject area within the College. This is an exciting opportunity for the person appointed to lead a well-resourced department at the forefront of Level 3 Maths and Computing delivery. The Sixth Form College is a leading provider of Further Mathematics and A Level Computer Science, as evidenced by consistently significant positive value added, ranked very highly nationally; and is amongst the first wave of providers for the new T Level qualifications in Digital. The Department is involved in teaching and learning projects with the MEI as well as being an active participant in the Maths Excellence Partnership to promote Mathematics within schools across the City.  The College also has strong links with local HE partners.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include overseeing the continued success of the Department in terms of student enjoyment, performance and progression; managing the performance of teaching staff; co-ordinating the delivery and assessment of the department; resource management, monitoring, and reporting; development of effective relationships with external partners; and promotion of the subject to prospective students.

In addition, the post holder will have a responsibility to implement and monitor the effectiveness of approaches taken in the delivery of these subjects to meet the strategic objectives of the College.
