Job overview

As part of the student services team, you will have a crucial role in ensuring that all learners at BCT have a fully supported and positive experience throughout their time with us. The role of student services curriculum support tutor is varied and supported by the whole student services team. Members of the team need to be organised, methodical, punctual and passionate about helping learners develop their vocational and life skills.

Key tasks

  • Responding effectively to incoming enquiries via telephone and email (parents, carers, local authorities, students etc.)
  • Student welfare and Information advice and guidance as required
  • Working within the student services hub as per timetable
  • Feedback on learners at risk
  • Pastoral support
  • Supporting careers week
  • Tracking of engagement with student services / issue / outcome
  • Weekly checks on the classes within the cohort, to discuss and concerns with the course tutors, and take appropriate action or escalate to the appropriate person.
  • Attendance once a month at curriculum team meetings

Essential Qualities/Skills and Attributes

  • Vocational experience in specialist area
  • Administration experience
  • Organisation skills
  • Proactive, forward thinking work ethic
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualifications

Desired Qualities/Skills and Attributes

  • Previous experience of working within a further education setting
  • Currently active in the vocational industry

Salary and days of work

35 hours per week

Term Time only (38 weeks per annum)

Salary is £19,896.15 per annum – Pro rata of £27,255.00 FTE

Start Date: 21st August 2023

This will allow you 6 months of reduced timetable for training and support whilst receiving full pay and cover all qualification costs over the two years of study’.

Welcome to Big Creative Training (BCT). We opened in 1999 to offer courses to disadvantaged young people and those not engaged in education, and while this is still at the very heart of what we do, we now provide courses to learners from all backgrounds and at all levels. We offer access to opportunities in the creative and cultural industries such as games design, media, music production and performance, and performing arts.
