Job overview

We are a small but expanding MAT that is seeking a Data Manager to lead the data provision in one of our schools. Our motto is ‘Stronger Together’ and the successful candidate will ensure that there is collaboration across the Trust. There are currently two schools in the Trust, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a highly successful all-inclusive boys’ school with a co-educational offer at Post 16, and the newly built Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls, that is already making huge strides in the education arena. The schools pride themselves on a culture of high standards from staff and pupils. They are demanding yet rewarding schools where students and staff feel valued and supported.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Innovation & Systems and will be responsible for the operational management and strategic development of the use of data in one of the schools.  The successful candidate will lead on all aspects of data collection, analysis, and dissemination to ensure accurate planning of teaching and learning and assessment of student progress.  Applicants must be able to produce detailed reporting relating to data trends in both written and verbal format which can be understood by a wide range of users across the Trust.

The successful applicant will need to develop data systems, both strategic and operational, and work alongside the leaders in the school to interpret the data. A desire to keep up to date with the latest research and innovation is essential to help the Trust remain at the forefront of leading excellence in this field. The Data Manager will also take overall responsibility for the integrity, integration and reporting of data within the MIS.

Applicants should have a professional appearance and attitude and will be able to deal with all stakeholders with flair and confidence. They should also have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate high levels of attention to detail.  This role is as much about working with colleagues as it is about managing data and the successful candidate will be skilled at working in a team and ensuring that all members work to their strengths.  Excellent organisation and communication are vital skills that will enable all stakeholders to feel supported by the Data Service.

As a member of staff at PolyMAT, we can offer you:

• Opportunities for career progression

• A competitive salary

• Excellent professional development

• A contributory pension scheme

• An employee assistance programme

• Season ticket loans

• Finders fees for personal introductions of staff that we employ

PolyMAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all trustees, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service, along with other relevant employment checks, including overseas criminal background checks, where applicable. All new trustees, employees and volunteers will be required to undertake safeguarding training on induction which will be regularly updated in line with statutory guidance.

The Trust is also committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination and developing community cohesion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are an inclusive school who celebrates its culture and diversity. We believe in giving young people the support they require, whatever their abilities, background or circumstances. The school’s success is based on thriving partnerships between pupils, parents, staff and governors. No one group works in isolation.

Being an all-boys' school, with a mixed post-16 centre, we are proud of the fact that our outstanding pastoral system adds to our ethos and success. Our post-16 partnership allows us to welcome both young men and women from all schools and backgrounds to contribute to our further success and expansion of our post-16 centre. We understand the pressures facing the students and we have a dedicated team of career specialists and personal counsellors to help advise and guide students throughout their time at the school where required.

All staff at the Poly are supported by a staff development programme and by effective line leadership and performance management processes. We have many staff that have gained internal promotions and made rapid career progression. This reflects on our ability to develop staff and reward outstanding contributions.  Indeed, our focus on professional development and maximising success has led to the recent establishment of Co-Headship, something that has increased our leadership capacity even more.
