Job overview

Our aim is simply stated, we want to be an outstanding school in every sense of the word and we want to be confident that ‘hand on heart’ 100% of our students get a better deal here than they would in any other school.

Our school values: Community, Aspiration, Respect and Endeavour, underpin everything we do.  At Vyners, we pride ourselves on the positive relationships between staff and students, that exist in the school and the strong sense of being part of a happy community.  We are a genuinely comprehensive school, believing that all students bring their own talents to our community.  Our committed staff value our students equally and take great care to make sure that every one of them is happy, secure and successful.  We believe that it is because of this approach that we are over-subscribed and that our students become high achievers.

Data is the foundation upon which we can build our school - collecting the right data and sharing the right data with the relevant audience, whether that is management, tutors, students or parents / carers.

The Data Manager, who provides the means of assessing where we are at and where we need to focus interventions is an integral part of the school, without whom the school cannot achieve its ambitions.  The central purpose of this role is to ‘make data meaningful’, employing a flexible and ‘can do’ approach.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced individual to be responsible for data integrity, the effective production of management information and generally ensuring the school community as a whole gets the best out of the data systems at Vyners School.  Being part of a multi-academy trust is offering exciting new opportunities to exchange best practice with our ‘sibling’ schools.  There may also be an opportunity for the postholder to develop skills in timetabling over the next few years and we would particularly be interested in hearing from candidates who would like to move their career in this direction.

Vyners School and Vanguard Learning Trust have an exciting and dynamic future and this post is a vital part of the team working to ensure we meet the highest standards.

Previous experience of working in a school is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will:

● Have exceptional data production / analysis skills

● Be proactive and eager to utilise data for the wider benefit of the student community

● Promote and safeguard the welfare of students at the school and to act as an appropriate role model for young people

● Be inquisitive, organised and energetic, with a good sense of humour

● Be conscientious and committed.

Start Date:                              ASAP

Application Closing Date:    9.00am Monday 18 November 2019 - earlier applications will be considered

Vyners School is a non-denominational, mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Ickenham, in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

The school is named after Sir Robert Vyner, who was a Lord Mayor of London and lived nearby. It first opened its doors as a grammar school in early 1960, and later became a comprehensive school. It gained academy status in 2011 and has around 1,200 students aged 11-18.

Values and vision

The Vyners School values were developed by governors, students, parents and staff in 2013. They are: community, aspiration, respect and endeavour. Vyners School encourages students to be resilient, unafraid to take calculated risks and make mistakes. Its values, the school hopes, will help pupils to stretch themselves, because the most valuable learning often takes place outside their comfort zone.

The school seeks to blend a 21st-century education with more traditional behavioural and uniform standards. It aims to produce rounded and grounded young people who will make a positive contribution to the world. Vyners School specialises in mathematics and computing.

Ofsted report

“Students achieve well and their attainment is well above average and improving in nearly all subjects and for most groups.  Teaching is good and improving rapidly. This is recognised by parents, carers and students."

“The best lessons are ambitious, helping students to work things out for themselves and achieve their very best.  Behaviour and attitudes are exceptional. All students and parents and carers are clear that the school is a safe place to learn. Relationships are positive and students embrace their learning with enthusiasm.”
