ABOUT CATS College CAMBRIDGE  CATS 

College offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 14+ from all over the world. OVERVIEW OF THE JOB  

You will be a supervising adult presence in the boarding house during the school day, committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our international boarding students and assist them in their daily lives. Working hours are on a Monday to Friday basis from 08:30 – 17:00.

REPORTS TO

You will be directly responsible to the Assistant Boarding Manager within the Boarding and Welfare department of the Colleges.  You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Principal.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

As a member of the Boarding team, you should carry out your role to support the needs of the students you work with and the College in general. 

  • Monitor the students’ welfare and behaviour and report concerns and issues to the relevant members of the Boarding and Welfare team
  • Ensure the smooth running of the boarding house generally in accordance with the student handbook to maintain a friendly, welcoming and happy environment 
  • Report student illness promptly to the Health centre in the mornings. If emergency attention is required, to use the emergency number or call an Ambulance 
  • Ensure ill students in their rooms are cared for under the direction of the College nurse if HC staff are not available 
  • Report any maintenance issues through the college system 
  • Issue keys as residence requires 
  • Provide a word-processed daily shift hand-over report 
  • To ensure a visible presence in the boarding house at all times when on duty 
  • Help with student arrivals, student induction and departures when required 
  • Attend termly induction and regular staff meetings 
  • Reply to all attendance reports and document on the College system as needed 
  • Sorting out post for students and staff 
  • Assist with keeping the reception area and the laundry room tidy if needed 
  • Covering Elizabeth House during the day when needed

  • Follow the guidelines of the staff handbook
  • Support the College and its leadership
  • Continue personal development as agreed
  • Engage actively in the performance review process
  • Comply with any reasonable request from the Principal or Head of School to undertake work not specified in this job description 
  • Be courteous to colleagues and parents  
  • Provide a welcoming environment for all visitors to the College

  • Develop and maintain a full understanding of current child protection procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

The job requires that you have: 

  • Ability to work with, care for and supervise young people 
  • High levels of energy, an even temper and a sense of humour 
  • Confidence to tackle students who are not adhering to the College rules 
  • Confident in both spoken and written English 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment 
  • Ability to work as a team member and lead by example 
  • Ability to be proactive, flexible and reliable 
  • To present a clean and smart appearance at all times

  • Masoud Hasounizadeh (Nima), from Iran, is studying A-level Music with us now and has just been commissioned by the BBC to compose background music for popular Persian entertainment show "Kook".
  • Four very different students with very different futures ahead of them - all successful but more importantly, happy in the choices they have made, and confident about their future.
