Job overview

The Business Studies and Computer Science department has 4 dedicated rooms with 20 – 30 computers. The department currently offers GCSE OCR Business and GCSE OCR Computer Science. We are looking to expand and offer OCR A Level Computer Science from September 2023.

The department currently consists of three members of staff and we are also fortunate to have our own Administration Assistant based in the department.

ICT is popular amongst the students, in Years 7, 8 and 9, students can develop their skills in ICT where they learn to develop the skills and qualities to enable them to excel in the future.

Our diverse curriculum has something for everyone, with extra guidance for those requiring additional support, and we do whatever it takes to help young people develop a sense of responsibility – towards themselves, each other, their community, and the wider world.

At KS3, students follow a diverse course offering students both a vocational and teacher-led experience, to help make the suitable option choice at KS4.

At KS4 we offer all students the option of taking the OCR GCSE 9-1 Business. Results for this course is consistently excellent.

A popular and incredibly successful subject at KS5, we offer BTEC National level 3 Extended Certificate.

Our school is on the outskirts of Slough Trading Estate, one of Europe’s largest, and puts us in a unique position to be able to collaborate with several multinational companies based there, such as O2 and Mars, so that enrichment opportunities for students really do further add value to their learning experience at our school.

The Westgate School is heavily oversubscribed and our Sixth Form continues to expand due to the strong reputation our school has within Berkshire and the local community. We believe that #betterneverstops and are continuing to make our school not only an ‘Outstanding’ place to learn, but an amazing place to work.

As part of our commitment to driving positive change, we are overstaffing in each department and giving our teaching staff additional PPA to ensure that they have more time to invest in our students’ learning, are afforded the time and space to continue their professional development and maintain a healthy work/life balance. Consequently, we are looking for talented individuals to enhance the quality of education at our school.

For further information please refer to the attached application information and we would also strongly encourage visits to the school, to see why The Westgate School is an outstanding school. Please email Mrs Venturini on sv@westgate.slough.sch.uk to arrange a visit.

We look forward to receiving your application for our vacancy.

We reserve the right to interview prior to the closing date if suitable applications are received. You will only be contacted if you are successful in our shortlisting process.
