St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School, is a successful 11-18 mixed Catholic Comprehensive founded in 1954 serving the population of Flintshire, North Wales.

We are looking to appoint a creative, enthusiastic Teacher of Geography who can maximise student achievement across all three Key Stages. 

GCSE Geography students achieved a 62% pass rate for A* - C in 2018, of which 21% were at A*/A.  In 2018 the department achieved a Grade 1 on the ALPS scale for AS Geography.

The post requires a Geography specialist with a good honours degree and relevant experience and offers the opportunity to teach GCSE and A Level.  The right candidate must:

• Be an outstanding teacher with a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum

• Have the ability to inspire excellent teaching and learning

• Have the ability to lead, manage and liaise effectively with staff, students and parents in order to ensure our students achieve outstanding academic progress

• Be able to take responsibility for Geography across the curriculum

• Liaise and work closely with the Curriculum Leader for Humanities to develop all subjects within this learning area

• Develop the profile of Geography across the curriculum

About St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School

St Richard Gwyn Catholic, based in Flint, Clwyd, is a secondary state school for children between the ages of 11 and 18. It is an English medium voluntary-aided comprehensive. It serves the whole of Flintshire. At present, there are currently 811 students enrolled at the school. 122 of them are in sixth form. The school celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2014.

St Richard Gwyn values politeness, respect for everyone and honesty. Teachers aim to create a caring and happy environment for the students to learn in. Students also are able to take part in out of school clubs and activities. This includes participating on the school’s student council.
