We require an experienced, energetic and well qualified teacher to join our Learning Support department. The successful applicant needs to be able to deputise for the Director of Learning Support, have a track record of success with challenging students, and the ability to lead other professionals across the curriculum in meeting the needs of our students. This expertise may have been gained solely through mainstream teaching.

This is a new role, pivotal to the school’s ethos of inclusion encapsulated in our Wildly Important Goals and Beliefs. The successful candidate, under the direction of the Director of Learning Support, will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a new alternative curriculum, for the small number of our students who have high needs and require support to access the curriculum.

The Weald is an outstanding, high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and we pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important. The school was judged to be ‘Outstanding in all areas’ by Ofsted. Progress 8 results at GCSE place us in the top 10% of schools nationally on a rolling three year basis.

The SEN curriculum area is an integral part of our wider Student Support Team and you will join a team of highly effective practitioners that has significant impact across the whole school. We have an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important.

If you relish the opportunity of working in a supportive and stimulating professional environment, The Weald School would welcome your application. We also welcome visits to the school from interested candidates. Please contact Yvonne Clements, Headteacher’s PA (yclements@theweald.org.uk), if you would like to arrange a visit.

Closing date: 10am, Tuesday 23 April 2019

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to pre employment checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
