Job overview

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified and ambitious graduate to support and inspire amazingly talented young people to realise their dreams in one of the country’s leading state schools.

Ranked in the top ten schools in the country for pupil progress at both GCSE and A Level, we are very proud that the latest Department for Education performance tables published in January 2018 confirm our progression rate to Russell Group universities of 75% to be the second highest of any school in the country. This success has led to student numbers expanding rapidly as our reputation has grown, with the Sixth Form now comprised of 600 extremely able students joining us from more than 60 secondary schools across East London and beyond.

With the majority of our students from disadvantaged backgrounds and the vast majority the first in their family to progress to university, we instil within our students the belief that there is no ceiling to what they can achieve, inspiring them to work hard and dream big.

The successful applicant to this role will embody this ethos and play a leading role in all aspects of the university guidance and preparation programme, with a specific emphasis on supporting the large number of students applying to Oxbridge. There will be considerable scope for the appointed candidate to put their own stamp on the role as a core member of the University Access Team, which is currently comprised of three talented and committed staff who are themselves Oxbridge graduates.

As a school we know it is never too early to start fostering academic curiosity, which is why the University Access Team works with every year group in the school, including primary school children at Langdon Academy (one of the country’s biggest all-through schools that is part of Brampton Manor Trust). With another primary school set to join the Trust in April 2018 the appointed candidate will work with some of the brightest minds aged 4-18 from the 5,000+ students across our schools. In doing so, you will have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on their futures and life chances.

The position is ideally suited to a highly ambitious, intelligent graduate who is committed to the transformative power of education.

The job description and person specification is attached. This is a non-teaching role and no prior experience of working in a school is required. A specialism in the sciences/Maths would be an advantage to compliment the skill-set of the existing team and lead on STEM activities, but applications from high quality graduates in all subject disciplines are warmly welcomed.

Please visit our website to apply and obtain further details about this role. All completed application forms should be sent by email to jobs@bramptonmanor.org

Brampton Manor Trust is an equal opportunities employer. We are fully committed to the safeguarding of children.  Enhanced DBS, Barred List and Prohibition checks will always be carried out on new employees.
