Job overview
This role offers a rare opportunity to lead Ofsted’s Research and Evaluation team during an unparalleled time for education and care.
As Deputy Director, Research and Evaluation, you will be responsible for a function which has grown in size and impact over the past three years to become an authoritative voice in the sectors we inspect and regulate. Our research has high impact and rightly invites careful scrutiny.
Building on this success, you will shape and focus Ofsted’s future research agenda to continue to provide fresh insights and underpin our role as a force for improvement. You will also lead a team of committed, highly professional colleagues to ensure that everything we do as an inspectorate and regulator is grounded in evidence.
Through major thematic reports, the Chief Inspector’s Annual Report and evaluating our own inspection practice and impact, Ofsted’s research is high profile, as is the role holder. You will therefore be a highly credible communicator with a nationally recognised reputation in academic research. This will be matched by your ability as a senior leader; ensuring your team is supported, motivated and focused on delivering our work amidst a rapidly changing context.
In return, we can offer a role with the ability to make a real difference for children and young people in England.
