We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Examinations Manager to support the Examinations Manager and be responsible for managing the effective and efficient administration of external examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations (on behalf of the JCQ member awarding bodies) and/or awarding body rules for exams administration in a consistent and secure fashion, thereby helping to maintain the integrity of the assessment process

What to expect? 

  • To act on behalf of, and be the main point of contact for, the centre in matters relating to the general administration of awarding body examinations and assessments
  • To closely liaise with key stakeholders (external and internal) to ensure exams administration processes are strictly followed and key deadlines are met.
  • To co-ordinate the examinations function across the college in order to ensure appropriate systems and procedures are implemented in accordance with awarding body requirements.

This includes collaboration with

Key staff across the college for planning and managing all aspects of the examination, from registrations, entries, examinations or accreditation and results

Student Services, tutors and Faculty Administration to support and facilitate the access arrangements and additional needs/reasonable adjustments for external and internal exams.

Quality division to ensure the Curriculum are made aware of any updated examination requirements supplied by the examination boards, throughout the year.

Appropriate staff across the college to ensure examination rooms and invigilation requirements are met in accordance with awarding body requirements

  • Assisting the Examinations Manager with the day to day responsibility for communicating, monitoring and reporting the progress of the college against internal and external deadlines in relation to the examinations function.
  • Assisting the Examinations Manager with the day to day responsibility for the further development, production and implementation of examination related processes and procedures, including, but not exclusively registration, invigilation, achievements and certification
  • Collaborate with the MIS technical teams to review, develop and implement the computer based solution to reduce workload and improve effectiveness in the area of examinations administration. This includes systems efficiency, reporting and communications to all key stakeholders, including students, awarding bodies and college staff
  • Assisting the Examinations Manager with the day to day responsibility for the training of invigilators and to ensure common invigilation practice in accordance with awarding body requirements
  • Assisting the Examinations Manager with the day to day responsibility for the monitoring of workloads and appraisal of staff to develop and improve team performance 
  • Assisting the Examinations Manager with the day to day responsibility for the training of all appropriate staff in examination related procedures and processes
  • Deputising for the Examinations Manager in their absence
