This is a truly exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of English to take their teaching career to the next stage as a Deputy Faculty Leader within a dedicated and hard working English Department at The Mirfield Free Grammar & Sixth Form. As the number two in faculty your main focus will be to take responsibility for standards and achievement within KS4 English. In addition you will support the Head of English in managing and developing the team as well as influencing the strategic direction of the department. You will play a key role in planning the next stages of development for the department, sharing ideas and best practice with the team. 

As a leader within the Academy we will expect you to be instrumental in helping to inspire and motivate both our staff and students. You will play a key role in helping to drive the Academy forward, raising standards and creating outstanding life chances for students. 

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Faculty Leader who wants to inspire, is excited by learning and has a desire to further develop a career with hard work and commitment. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and driven by a passion to deliver outstanding Teaching and Learning.

Local Information

Mirfield is a small West Yorkshire town and lies on the A644 between Dewsbury & Huddersfield. Surrounded by rolling hills and fields there are many lovely views in Mirfield, one of the nicest being from the staff room window! Mirfield has a wealth of historical figures associated with it such as Robin Hood, the Luddites and the Bronte’s. More recently, it has produced such fine actors as Patrick Stewart who is also a patron of the school.  Situated very close to the M62, M1 and the A1, Mirfield is within very easy access of most of the North particularly Manchester, Liverpool, York, Sheffield and Hull.  There is a lot of beautiful countryside to explore and for those who prefer the city life, Mirfield is easily commutable from the vibrant and exciting Leeds city centre.
