Job overview

The Hawthorns School is a thriving prep day school for children between the ages of 2 and 13.  Located on an idyllic 35-acre estate in Bletchingley, Surrey, our mission is to prepare each child for life and to inspire a love of learning.

We are seeking an inspirational senior leader to be responsible for the strategic management of the curriculum, ensuring that pupils are engaged positively in learning and their standards of progress are excellent.  Working as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will take a full part in the management of the School and will be responsible for supporting and developing our high-quality teaching staff.

Candidates for this role will be passionate about curriculum development, and have a track record of having developed academic provision in a management/leadership role.  Candidates will enjoy working collaboratively and being part of an ambitious and supportive team.  The successful candidate will have an obvious love of teaching and be an able practitioner, with proven commitment to all-round education and a management style which will accord with the School’s strong sense of community.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and motivational teacher looking to further develop their career.  Whilst applications from those who already have senior management experience are welcomed, the School is also keen to encourage applications from those for whom this would be their first senior leadership role.  Candidates must be prepared to play a full part in School life, including co-curricular activities.  Salary will be according to experience and qualifications.  Further details and an application pack are available on our website or from the HR Manager, Emma Mitchell hr@hawthorns.com

The closing date for applications is Thursday 3 March 2022 at 9.00am.  However, applications will be considered in the order in which they are received, and the School reserves the right to make an appointment prior to the closing date should the ideal candidate(s) be identified.

All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a ‘Suitability to work with children: self-declaration form’.  This form must be completed and returned to HR prior to the interview taking place.
