Canford is nationally recognised as among the top co-educational boarding schools in the country academically. It has a fine reputation for achievement in external examinations alongside an ethos of dynamic intellectual development for every pupil through a very wide range of learning opportunities. There is a culture of hard work, ambition and innovation.
On the retirement of the current Deputy Head Academic, we are seeking a self-motivated individual who can build on the school’s current academic provision and on the success achieved to date.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Head Academic is responsible for the school’s academic strategy, its ongoing development and implementation, and his/her influence is seen through the effective and efficient leadership and management of Heads of Department, their teams and the structures that support them.
We are seeking to appoint a person of vision, strength and humanity who can marry harmoniously the school’s academic ambitions, maintaining and improving high standards in the academic performance of all groups of pupils, with its strengths in co-curricular and pastoral areas.
Above all, the successful candidate will be innovative, optimistic, resilient, and committed to supporting and developing the vision of the school ‘to inspire young people to embrace learning in all its forms and to use their educational experience to make a real and positive difference to their own lives and the lives of others.’
