Job overview

The post holds Deputy Head status within a flat management team of three Deputy Heads led by the Prep Headmistress and is therefore an excellent platform for ultimate headship or a rewarding career move. This position offers a unique opportunity at senior management level in a highly successful girls’ school where girls experience an exceptional start to their school careers.

The post holder will be central to building a nurturing, creative environment in which girls achieve both their academic and personal potential. Our aim is for girls to develop a love of learning and to enable them to embrace challenges. Fun is therefore an essential ingredient in the education we provide.

Our Prep School has been described as a ‘village within the village’ and is located in the heart of Bramley in an attractive mix of listed and more modern buildings. The School has two-form entry from 4 to 11 years. Girls and staff have the advantage of excellent facilities, both within the Prep School and on the Senior School site, which include a swimming pool, theatre, chapel and extensive playing fields. The pupils are taught by specialist teachers in PE, ICT, music and ballet from Reception. The staff throughout the School form a highly skilled, professional and collaborative body who put the needs of the girls at the forefront at all times.

St. Catherine’s Bramley enjoys a reputation for its excellence as a teaching environment in which great teachers are supported, encouraged and developed.

St Catherine's School, Bramley, an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 4 -18. Founded in 1885, the school enjoys over a century of tradition and prides itself on its own very special blend of academic excellence and pastoral care.
As a girls' school St Catherine's ensures that its students develop in an environment which suggests to them in everything they see around them that there is nothing that a woman cannot achieve.

They gain a balanced view of the world and their place in it and, with that sense of fearlessness and security, and the confidence it generates, I believe that St Catherine's girls will continue to be very well placed to pursue their education when they leave school at eighteen as sensible, caring and competent young women who will have much to offer in life.
Academic results are important - the school is comfortably placed in the infamous league tables - but we believe that there is much more to an all round education for the young women of the 21st century. The breadth of opportunity afforded to our students and the special atmosphere of support and encouragement which is the hallmark of the school allow St Catherine's to enjoy a reputation as a happy school for bright girls. The philosophy that happiness at school is the key to success and enjoyment for every individual underpins everything we do.
