Job overview

The Role

Start date: September 2019 or January 2020

This is an exciting and recently reviewed senior post reflecting the exciting developments and future of the school. We are committed to creating a curriculum that is adaptive, collaborative, innovative and academically rigorous and developing strategies to improve outcomes and foster independent, lifelong learning. The main focus of the role is to oversee all areas of learning, teaching and innovation at the Falcons Prep - Richmond with an emphasis on providing high quality learning opportunities for all. The Deputy Head - Learning and Innovation will be expected to act as a pioneer in developing a broad and rigorous curriculum fit for the future, new initiatives and innovative pedagogy.

We wish to appoint a dynamic and inspirational individual to join an exciting and well-resourced team. A willingness to play a part in the co-curricular programme and strategic vision of the school would be an advantage.

The School

Falcons Boys enjoy a vibrant learning environment where staff nurture a love of learning. We are an ambitious 4-13 school with a strong set of values focused on providing every boy with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As a staff, we are ambitious for our boys academically and we are proud of the range of senior schools they go on to. Yet, just as importantly, we realise what an exciting, and challenging, time it is to be growing up and the significant role we play in preparing the boys for their future beyond this. We appreciate that academics alone will not provide the boys with the skills they need to succeed and are therefore proud to offer a range of opportunities in leadership, sports, the arts, within the community, through charity work and drama whilst also promoting a range of cultures, ideas and an understanding of the world around us. We want all our boys to acquire and secure the proficiency to become effective life-long learners.

Committed to providing the very best for our boys, we will continuously review and reflect on our own practices creating a curriculum that is adaptive, collaborative, innovative and academically rigorous.

At all times the boys are expected to uphold the ethos of the school in a positive manner and are proud ambassadors; not only on the school site but when representing Falcons at outside events, activities and fixtures. We foster a desire to learn by offering a curriculum that has breadth, balance and challenge.

At Falcons we maintain high expectations and place a strong emphasis on acknowledging the positive ways in which the boys conduct themselves and interact with others. Trust, honesty, good manners, a hardworking attitude and respect for the environment and above all, each other, are intrinsic in all that we teach.

We place great emphasis on the strength of our community and the boys being considerate, courteous and tolerant of the needs of others. In this environment they have the opportunity to grow academically, on the sports field, artistically, on stage, and to take leadership responsibilities in many different areas. Life at Falcons Preparatory School is a unique experience.

Closing date: Friday 19th April at 12pm

First round of interviews will take place week commencing 22nd April.
