Job overview

Deputy Head

Required for September 2023

Salary: Competitive Salary Package

Longridge Towers School is a small independent school set in its own beautiful, safe grounds; a perfect environment for pupils aged 3 - 19. We are a friendly and vibrant learning community, with high aspirations for the children in our care and the staff team who supports them.

We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Head to join our Senior Leadership Team, starting in September 2023, on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be dynamic, strong, confident and passionate about education and be an exceptional leader; someone who can inspire the confidence of peers, staff, pupils and parents and who can help us take the next step in our School Improvement journey. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering the highest standards of curriculum, teaching, learning and leadership within our School, with the ability to lead on change and innovation and take full accountability for key areas within the School, in particular with senior pupils and curriculum for Key Stage 3 and above.

The Deputy Head should have a strong sense of purpose and vision and the successful candidate will enjoy the backing of a dedicated, as well as supportive Senior Leadership Team, who will value your contribution. You must possess a proven track record that demonstrates significant improved outcomes over time, where you have made a real difference both professionally and personally, helping children, regardless of their background, to live life to the full and achieve their own academic excellence.

Your practice, ethos and approach to school life will shape the lives of our pupils and it is therefore key that you are an experienced teacher who is passionate about your subject specialism and the education of children in independent education. You must be able to lead by example and embody our school values, be innovative, encouraging and a real team player who is ready to be a key member of the SLT at Longridge.

You will have a reduced timetable and will be responsible for teaching your own classes. Whilst any subject will be considered, experience in Humanities, Chemistry or English would be a significant benefit.

The School attracts pupils from a wide geographical area on both sides of the Scottish Border and has a healthy and growing roll. Longridge is situated in North Northumberland, three miles from the picturesque town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Closing date: 14:00hrs on Tuesday 21st March 2023, with interviews soon after the closing date.

ISI

“The pupils’ personal development is outstanding throughout the school, supported by excellent pastoral arrangements and the caring approach of form teachers and tutors. Relationships between staff and pupils are excellent, as are those amongst the pupils themselves, often across the age range. The provision of boarding and the level of care provided are also excellent.”
