Help transform lives by joining our team.

A breakthrough can seem like the smallest thing, but it can make the world of difference to someone on the autism spectrum. By becoming a Deputy Head of Care at the National Autistic Society you’ll help make every day breakthroughs happen more often.

We are looking for a residential Deputy Head of Care at Radlett Lodge school. You’ll be working with children aged 8-19 and their families in a Residential Special School with ten bedrooms.

The service can accommodate up to ten children at any one time and offers a variety of packages for children which includes 38 week and 43 week placements or flexi –boarding.

We need you to be resilient, supportive and sensitive towards the needs of autistic people. Being a Deputy Head of Care takes bravery, patience and commitment. But working with autistic people gives so much more in return.

You may have a personal connection, a desire to work with, or real life experiences working with autistic people. You might not have lots of experience yet, but if you share our values and are willing to make a difference to the lives of autistic people, we’d love to hear from you.

We offer a fantastic 5 month induction programme, continuing learning and development opportunities, regular one to ones, annual appraisals, and the support you need to develop a career in social care. Within the first 12 weeks of working for us, we'll support you to complete the Care Certificate, a requirement for everyone working in the health and social care sector in England and further opportunities to work toward QCF level 5 in management. We also offer a host of benefits – from shopping discounts to flexible working and a competitive pension scheme. Your working pattern will be varied over a seven day rota and could include sleep-ins and bank holidays.

  • Participate in the admissions process and carry out home visits
  • Support positive and meaningful outcomes for pupils to achieve outcomes in line with their care plans.
  • To ensure professional, empathetic, and informative relationships with families, carers, advocates, professionals and other parts of the NAS are maintained.

  • Have responsibility for the performance management of staff
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes
  • Ensure risk assessments are carried out, and ensure an awareness of fire, health and safety
