Job overview

We are looking for an inspiring and determined Maths teacher to help lead our innovative department to greater success. The ideal person for the job will have a passion for mathematics and be looking to pursue a greater leadership role in the near future. We will provide support and training so that the right candidate can make rapid progress into middle leadership.

As second in department at Oaklands, you would be leading an experienced and creative team, who strive to teach maths in a way that gives students a conceptual understanding, develops problem solving and allows students to enjoy mathematics and understand how it links to life. We are developing a series of projects that help students apply their maths in authentic and interesting contexts. You would have the opportunity to be creative, to look at best practice around the world and implement it here at Oaklands.

Oaklands is a small school with a very friendly atmosphere. Our students perform way above national averages and value added puts us in the top 5% of schools nationally. We have 120 students in a year group split into 5 classes in KS3 and 6 in KS4. Our A Level classes are popular and we hope to run further maths A Level for the first time next year. As well as students who have individual support from teaching assistants, we also have a maths specific TA and volunteer maths academic mentors, who work with small groups of students; the students you work with will be well supported.

If you are ambitious, have a passion for education, and want to make a difference to students’ opportunities in life, then please apply.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of young people. The successful candidate will be DBS checked.
