The Governors seek to appoint an exceptional Deputy Head of PE Faculty who has a proven track record of good or outstanding classroom practice.

This is a school in an area of relatively high deprivation which transforms the life opportunities of children.  If you came into teaching to transform lives, then this is an opportunity for you to do so.

Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools is Britain’s first federated school - our campus embraces two schools, Boys’ and Girls’ with a co-ed Sixth Form.  We have state of the art buildings and facilities and dedicated professional staff.  Bishop Challoner is an exciting and supportive environment in which to work and develop your career.

The PE department is extremely committed to providing a safe, relevant, enjoyable and all-inclusive curriculum. As a school we recognise the role that sport can play in the holistic development of a young person and the integral role this plays in society. The PE department provides a wide variety of sports, ensuring that pupils can pursue their sporting interests both inside and outside of school. In addition to providing an inclusive curriculum we are a school that actively encourages the pursuit of sporting excellence. We have a number of students and sports teams that compete at a regional and national level with our most successful sports being football, basketball and athletics.

This is a fantastic opportunity for exceptional teachers. You do not need to be a practising Catholic to apply.

OFSTED 2021 (Girls’ School):
“New leaders and governors are ambitious and have set high expectations for all. They set about making important changes and have brought about notable improvements”
“Pupils value their education”
“Positive about the changes and routines that new leaders introduced”

We Offer:
• The unique opportunity to develop gender-related teaching and learning in a federation of two schools
• A strong commitment to your professional development and career management – excellent CPD opportunities including bespoke individual and team-based training programmes across all levels
• Outstanding support from faculty teams and a designated mentor
• Opportunities to be involved with action-based research on topics that match your pedagogical interests
• Supportive environment in which your enthusiasm will be encouraged, nurtured and rewarded
• A positive and stimulating school environment which values the contribution of all staff

We are looking for professionals with:
• The willingness to support our Catholic Ethos and mission
• Evidence of excellent classroom practice or the potential to achieve it
• A track record of successful student outcomes at KS3, KS4 and KS5
