Are you seeking an opportunity to play a major role in one of the most successful international schools in Asia? The Deputy Head of Primary (DHoP), along with the Head of Primary and three Assistant Heads, form the Primary School Leadership Team (PSLT). This team leads the strategic and operational workings of the school. The role requires the successful candidate to understand the practice of leadership as well as having the ability to deliver on specific leadership and management roles and responsibilities. Significant autonomy to oversee and lead a large portfolio will be given to the right candidate.

These include;

  • Leading on core learning areas (e.g. assessment, student welfare, professional development, performance management, etc.)
  • Line-management of Year Leaders
  • Oversight of several operational aspects (e.g. cover, duties, calendar, handbooks, etc.)
  • Input into common PSLT responsibilities (e.g. recruitment, induction, development planning, etc.)


 Beyond this, the DHoP has direct responsibility for leading the school in the absence of the Head of Primary. Candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant experience as well as express any particular areas of interest. There is a small teaching commitment, which is at the discretion of the Head of Primary/Principal. You will deliver an adapted UK National Curriculum that is constantly evolving to meet current educational thinking and our international context.

About you

As a qualified teacher, you will be a fluent English speaker, familiar with the UK curriculum and confident working with students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. You will be comfortable teaching students of all abilities across the complete Primary age range, including Early Years Foundation Stage. You will be an excellent communicator and confident with technology; someone who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents. As a leader, you will, amongst other things, you’ll be well organised, have a good sense of humour and will want to participate fully in all aspects of school life.

Selection Process

Applications should be made via the Nord Anglia Education recruitment website at www.jobtrain.co.uk/nordanglia and should contain a CV, letter of application and the details of two professional referees-one of which is your current Headteacher/Principal.

The closing date for application is 27 January 2019. However, successful short listed candidates will be contacted straight away with initial discussions conducted remotely by telephone or Skype prior to the final deadline. A second round of interviews will take place soon after the initial contact either by phone or in person at the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London in the week commencing 21st January 2019.
