Job overview

Required for September 2022

Leadership Range (L10 – L14)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an outstanding leader to join the Senior Leadership Team of our primary phase as Deputy Head and lead us towards becoming outstanding in every aspect of primary provision. The Langdon Academy Primary joined the existing large secondary school as a ‘start-up’ provision in 2011, so the first cohort are now in Year 10. We need someone who can demonstrate significant and sustained impact in their current role as either an assistant head or senior leader in a primary school. The pace of change at Langdon has been rapid and our new Deputy Head will need to be dynamic, a strategic thinker and able to articulate our objectives to all stakeholders. The exact role and responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful person, but we are keen to receive applications from candidates who have considerably improved teaching and learning in their present setting, and have significantly raised achievement in key areas. Langdon Academy is on the cusp of something special. Pupil outcomes in the primary phase have increased significantly in recent years and we now seek a deputy to improve outcomes even further.

Langdon Academy is a 3-16 school, sponsored by the Brampton Manor Trust. We work in close partnership with Brampton Manor Academy (an outstanding 11-18 Academy), which is the other school within our multi-academy trust. At our last Ofsted inspection teaching in the secondary phase was described as “routinely outstanding”. Our current data and self-evaluation in both the primary and secondary phase indicate that we are improving at a rapid rate on our journey to outstanding and beyond, but we are not complacent.

We are looking for someone who is a strong communicator and someone with the experience, the presence, the personality and the work ethic to lead effectively. You will also play a pivotal role, alongside the Principal and Head of Primary in shaping the vision and direction of the primary phase, ensuring that we become an outstanding all through school.

Therefore, we are looking for a senior leader with the experience and credentials to move us forward at pace. We offer an induction programme for all new staff and opportunities for professional development at all levels

Please visit our websites at www.bramptonmanor.org or www.langdonacademy.org to apply and obtain further details about this role. All completed application forms must be sent by email to jobs@bramptonmanor.org.

Brampton Manor Trust is an equal opportunities employer. We are fully committed to the safeguarding of children. Enhanced DBS, Barred List and Prohibition checks will always be carried out on new employees.

Closing date: Monday 23rd May 2022 at 9.00am

Please note: Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, as applications are received

About Langdon Academy

Langdon Academy is a mixed, non-denominational all-through academy school for three to 16-year-olds located in East Ham in the east London borough of Newham. It has capacity for just over 2,400 pupils.

The school is part of the Brampton Manor Trust, a multi-academy trust which also runs Brampton Manor Academy. Langdon Academy (previously Langdon School) joined the trust in 2014.

The school was originally three separate institutions, built in 1953. In 1972, these schools - Burges Manor, Thomas Lethaby and East Ham Grammar School - were combined to form Langdon School, a mixed comprehensive that would later become Langdon Academy.
