Academic results are strong at KS4 and KS5 with the vast majority of students securing their first choice university destinations.

The School is in a very strong, stable financial position with over £6M recently spent on school expansion including a new Sixth-form centre, performing arts theatres and an Innovation & Design Centre. The School is also supported extremely well by a fantastic PTA and Foundation. Our outstanding staff well-being programme includes fortnightly well-being periods, access to our fitness suite and swimming pool, flu vaccinations and complimentary eye tests.

Our students enjoy learning and are an absolute pleasure to teach. We believe every child deserves the best and we aim to achieve excellence in all aspects of school life.

About the Science Department:

The Science Department at Rickmansworth School is a large and thriving department with great results achieved year on year. Our team of 12 teachers deliver lessons with a focus on challenging students and developing independent learners. This is supported by our brilliant team of technicians, along with purpose-built labs, including a computer lab. Results are excellent throughout all year groups, and our progress measures for Science are in the top 10% of the country.

Many students opt to study separate sciences at GCSE, with 67% of our separate science students achieving Grades 9 - 7 in 2022. Astronomy is also offered to students as an additional GCSE. Due to this success at KS4, many of our students choose to continue their studies at Rickmansworth School for A-levels, and our Science A-level numbers have been increasing year on year.  Our students are very able and ambitious and we have a number apply to Oxbridge and Medical related courses each . At Rickmansworth School, we also offer many extra-curricular activities to engage students further in Science including Horticulture Club, Science Club and STEM Week activities.
